Childrens' Camp Schedule

Sunday August 14

3:15pm – Arrive at Horseshoe Bay (Government dock) where our staff will welcome campers and sign them in

3:45pm – Depart for Gambier Island

4:30pm – Arrive at camp and visit dining hall to meet counsellors and staff

5:00pm – Tour the camp and move-in

5:30pm – Dinner

6:30pm – Meet the nurse, decorate your earth cabins, get to know your cabin mates and plan out cabin choice activities

8:00pm – Opening camp fire with special guests, acknowledgement of Squamish Nation territory. Presentation of Right to a Healthy Environment camp pillar. Evening snack provided.

9:00pm – Junior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

9:45pm – Senior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

 

Monday August 15

7:30am – Morning choices: polar bear dip, wild bird calls or kids yoga

8:00am – “Morning Earth Connections” (introduction of Squamish Culture and Language camp pillar)

8: 30am – Breakfast

9:30am – Squamish Nation activities – TBA

12:00pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Camper skills (paddle boarding, aqua adventures, archery, wilderness pursuits)

3:00pm – Tuckie organics

4:00pm – Cabin choice (canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fort building, farming)

5:30pm – Dinner

6:30pm – Nature’s expressions (special guest presentation or camp character messages)

7:30pm – Earth games

8:30pm – Cabin reflections

9:00pm – junior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

9:45pm – senior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

 

Tuesday August 16

8: 30am – Breakfast

9:30am – Biodiversity experiential presentation – TBA

12:00pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Camper skills (paddle boarding, aqua adventures, archery, wilderness pursuits)

3:00pm – Tuckie organics

4:00pm – Cabin choice (canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fort building, farming)

5:30pm – Dinner

8:00am – “Morning Earth Connections” (Sustainable Living – camp characters introduced)

8: 30am – Breakfast

9:30am – Conservation Leadership Field Studies (Squamish River Watershed Society – planting eel grass & Gambier Island Conservancy – path builders and sign installation)

12:30pm – Lunch (picnic style)

1:30pm – Hike & paddle to Halkett Bay

5:30pm – Dinner

6:30pm – Nature’s Expressions (special guest presentation or camp character messages)

7:30pm – Earth games

8:30pm – Cabin reflections

9:00pm – Junior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

9:45pm – Senior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

 

Thursday August 18

8:00am – “Morning Earth Connections” (Conversation Leadership– camp characters introduced)

8: 30am – Breakfast

9:30am – DSF/Fircom’s sustainable living presentation– TBA

12:00pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Camper skills (paddle boarding, aqua adventures, archery, wilderness pursuits)

3:00pm – Tuckie organics

4:00pm – Cabin choice (canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fort building, farming)

5:30pm – Dinner

6:30pm – Nature’s expressions (special guest presentation or camp character messages)

8:30pm – Final campfire - raising of the 2016 camp plaque and in the forest slide show

9:30pm – Junior campers off to cabins (brush teeth and story time)

Friday August 19

7:45am – Sleep in & morning choices: polar bear dip, stone towers or kids yoga

8:00am – “Morning Earth Connections” (Climate Change Awareness – camp characters introduced)

8: 30am – Breakfast

9:30am – Clean up and pack up

10:00am - Special presentation: Climate change – What is it? How to adapt? How to make a difference

12:00pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Camper photos and closing circle

2:30pm – Depart for Horseshoe Bay

3:00pm – Pick-up from Horseshoe Bay
