Fircom creates opportunities for people to live in a community immersed in nature with a focus on minimizing our footprint. It aspires to be a zero-waste and carbon-neutral venue working in collaboration with local and national organizations.

Camp Suzuki: Howe Sound on Gambier Island, B.C.

Camp Suzuki: Howe Sound takes place at Fircom, a 120-acre oceanfront camp on Gambier Island and dedicated to sustainability, outdoor recreation and place-based learning.

The camp — which plans to operate on 100 per cent renewable energy by 2020 — has a 15-kilowatt photovoltaic electrical power system and will soon have a micro-hydro system. Fircom serves an 80 per cent vegetarian menu with ingredients from the Fircom farm just 30 metres from the kitchen.
